Robots are taking over us
It’s 2017; everyone is afraid to see their job taken away by robots. Yes, you’re going to be replaced by robots.
The threat is real, I’m sorry. Robots will take your job. Most people can and will be replaced by robots. That’s just where we’re moving towards.
In fact, we’re already replacing people. It’s happening. Just look at the new Amazon store, no cashier, nothing. You enter, get what you want and leave. Your credit card is automatically debited.
Major key: Emotional intelligence
“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion.” Dale Carnegie
No matter what progress we do in technology, no robot will ever have a soul, and by soul, I mean real emotions. This includes creativity, emotional intelligence, and social skills.
Those are the skills you need to focus on.
We cannot create and provide robots with real emotions. They are not mindful. That’s just not possible; we’re not God or mother nature.
That’s great news for humans because, except emotions, robots are going to replace you nearly everywhere. Everything that can be robotized will be.
The point is that I’ve never seen a robot trying to negotiate or convince someone.
In this post, we’ll focus on emotional intelligence, let’s call it EQ.
Develop your emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others.
Nowadays people are trying to know which is more important EQ or IQ.
They are both essential, and one cannot go without the other.
Let’s say you work at Starbucks; you need to provide a great experience to the customers, engage with them, smile, compliment them. Be genuinely interested in your customers.
Today, too many people work like robots, they have no emotions, no interactions and don’t even smile. People complain when they work and they complain again when robots replace them.
The result is obvious, the employer is going to replace them with a robot that doesn’t complain, and that is efficient.
The only way you’re going to beat robots is by being genuine, interested in your customers and willing to go the extra mile. Be great and extraordinary, as say this quote.
“One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.”
You need to be that extraordinary man, the one that nobody can replace. Be unique.
You don’t need to be rational all the time. Being rational can often lead to bad decisions.
Using emotions, you put people’s interest first.
This applies to everyone, whether you’re an employee or an entrepreneur.
Especially if you’re an entrepreneur.
As an entrepreneur, you’re willing to improve the world and people’s lives right? Then more than anyone, entrepreneurs should focus on emotional intelligence.
You know it’s coming.
Today you see what’s happening. Companies are laying off people to replace them by robots. If your job was not affected yet, you might know that it is coming.
For instance, if you’re a truck driver, you know that autonomous truck is coming for you, right? You can’t say you didn’t know when it happens.
While EQ may not help you as a truck driver. Since you know that the future doesn’t look good for you. You must start now on improving your skills in other areas. Areas like social skills and creativity.
It’s not easy when you’ve been driving a truck for 30 years but you either choose to suffer the consequence of technology or you can choose to do something about it.
The possibilities are infinite, and you need to start today. Whatever it is that you do, you’ll need to work hard.
It’s difficult, but it’s definitely worth it.
